Blender is a free program for modeling, animation and rendering of 3D graphics. This is an open source project with a power comparable to leading commercial packages such as Maya or 3D Studio.
The possibilities are immense Blender: its tools for creating objects, sculpt, enlighten, and encourage them to paint textures in complex scenes. Blender Game mode, included in the main package is an advanced 3D game editor.
One of the weaknesses of Blender is the difficulty in learning to manage your tools, documentation is scarce and the interface very intuitive. Fortunately, there is the broad community of Blender users, more than willing to lend a hand and provide tutorials and examples.
With Blender you too can be Pixar, or at least that's the idea behind its continued development. Get it, of course, depends on the time you invest in learning. |
